About
Abraham Reyes (Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo, 1993) is a poet and photographer. He studied Linguistics and Hispanic Literature at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and trained at the Creative Writing Course for Young Writers of the Universidad Veracruzana and the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas.
He was a fellow of the Puebla Program for Artistic Creation and Development 2019 with the video poem “Arrullo para los fantasmas” (Lullaby for Ghosts), and received the “Abrazarte en la Ciudad” 2020 grant for the audio poem “La voz de mi abuela es el canto de un grillo” (My Grandmother’s Voice Is a Cricket’s Song). His work appears in El hilo que remienda (Fomento Editorial BUAP), Antilogía. 26 poetas desde Puebla, La memoria de los días (Ediciones Bistró O) and the magazine La rabia del axolotl.
He has led poetry workshops in schools across Puebla and taught “Poetry to Reconfigure: New Masculinities” with the city’s Municipal Institute of Art and Culture. His photography, street, film, fashion and trades, comes from the same question as his poems: how to look tenderly at what is about to disappear.
